helpucover Advises Consumers: Act Now - Protect Your Finances Before It's Too Late

Published on : Friday 31st October 2008

Online insurance provider helpucover, is urging consumers to act now to protect their finances before it's too late.

With the UK on the brink of recession and job cut announcements being made with what appears to be alarming regularity, helpucover is doing its best to ensure consumers are protected should the worst happen.

Barbara Russell, Head of Marketing for www.helpucover.co.uk, a website that offers Mortgage Payment Protection and Income Protection insurance direct to the public, comments: "In the current economic climate, consumers would be well advised to act now to protect their finances, if they haven't done so already. According to the CBI, unemployment is forecast to rise to 2.01 million by 2009."

With news of redundancies affecting even major companies, it's worth noting that most insurance policies have an exclusion clause when it comes to 'prior knowledge' of redundancy, should you be thinking of taking out insurance to protect your finances.

Barbara continues: "It can be confusing to know exactly what constitutes 'prior knowledge', therefore we make it as easy as possible for our customers with a fast - yet thorough - application process. At application stage, we ask a short set of questions which identifies whether a customer meets our criteria. If a customer is unclear about anything, we actively encourage them to call our customer service staff who are only too pleased to help."

Protection against the threat of accident, sickness or unemployment can be taken out from as little as 93p per month with helpucover's Mortgage Payment Protection Insurance or from £1.48 per month3 with helpucover's Income Protection Insurance (both per £100 of monthly repayment insured). A range of cover options is available whether you are employed or self-employed.

Barbara adds: "We would not consider speculation in the Media to be deemed as 'prior knowledge'; a customer must have been made explicitly aware, either 'verbally or in writing' by their employer that their job is at risk of redundancy." She concludes: "The key is to act now, particularly in the current climate because you can't predict what might happen in the future."
