Maintain your standard of living with helpucover

Published on : Tuesday 14th October 2008

As anyone living on State Benefits knows, it is very difficult to maintain an acceptable standard of living as compared to those who are employed.

The standard rate of benefit for Job Seekers Allowance (unemployment benefit) for anyone made redundant is just £60.50 a week for those aged 25 years and over, and even less for those under 25, at £47.95. The benefit rates for Incapacity Benefit should any individual be unable to work through long-term sickness or disability ranges from £63.75 for the first 28 weeks, £75.40 weeks 29-52 and £84.50 for week 53 and beyond. With the current cost of living averaging £412 per week per person, any individual - particularly with a family to support - would be hard pushed to maintain a decent standard of living should they be affected by unemployment.

Barbara Russell, Head of Marketing for www.helpucover.co.uk which offers Mortgage Payment Protection Insurance and Income Protection Insurance direct to the public, commented: "It can be really tough for those trying to survive on State Benefits. And with the obvious deterioration of the economy, indications are that many more people will have to resort to claiming what they can because of redundancy. However, helpucover can provide valuable protection to maintain your standard of living and avoid the need to claim on benefits."

Mortgage repayments can be covered from as little as 49p a month (per £100 of benefit per month) for up to 12 months with helpucover's MPPI and from £23.25 per month, a monthly income of £1,500 can be insured against the threat of accident, sickness or unemployment with helpucover's Income Protection. A range of cover options is available whether the individual is employed or self-employed.

Barbara concludes: "helpucover offers a good interim solution for periods of unemployment and the insurance also includes a Back to Work support service."
